Well..I finally got outside with my son to try searching for our first
letterbox! Couldn't wait! Unfortunately we came up empty handed. We tried a
relatively easy one - Fly Like an Eagle at the Mildren Morse Allen Wildlife
Sanctuary in Canton, MA but alas we could not find it! I am assuming it is
still there since it was placed in March 2003.
He's not discouraged though! We are planning to go again tomorrow to a new
site! (If it doesn't rain!)
Wish us luck!!
Patti

Any one else find this recently? -- I know the Green Team was there
soon after it was placed. If someone has, but thinks the clues need
adjusting, let me know that too.
Thanks.
I will try to check on it myself soon.

Don't give up! Come out to Moose Hill in Sharon (I work there) or go over to
Borderland State Park or over to the Blue Hills! There are a lot of boxes
really close by. We just did part of a new series in the Blue Hills. Some
boxes can be tough, but most of the local boxes are quite do-able.
Most importantly, enjoy the scenery and companionship, not just the hunt :)
Cheers!

We are actually heading to Moosehill today! My son wants to find Billings
Barn! We are definitely hooked!
And we are planning on going to the May 18th event too!
Thanks for the kind words of encouragement!

I have to put my two cents worth in here. First, I am here in downeast coastal Maine where letterboxes are not as plentiful as in some parts of the country. Most of them have been planted by Legerdemaine, who writes his clues in riddle and makes a wonderfully fun and challenging hunt. I have gone back as many as three or four times to finally get one box. It just makes the final "capture" that much sweeter. Don't be discouraged by the people who have been at this for quite a while or who live in areas with lots of boxes and who have huge "found" totals. I have been playing at this game for about 8 or 9 months and have about a dozen or so finds. Not very many, but I am happy with those and happy that there are still boxes in my area to be found. The hikes and walks to find them have been delightful, taking me to parts of "my" island I had never been. I love nabbing those boxes, but the journey to get to them has been every bit as enjoyable as the find. Enjoy yourselves and don't give up!Memlili
